Orphaned Oil and Gas Well Program

The Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is working in partnership with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to plug, abandon and reclaim orphaned oil and gas wells and well sites on State and private land across the state. This work is being funded by a $25 million competitive grant awarded to ADEQ on behalf of AZOGCC by the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Initial records research conducted in 2022 for the DOI grant application showed that Arizona may have 246 orphaned oil and gas wells | Learn More >
